This section highlights information about the different awarding organisations that will be involved in accrediting functional skills qualifications.
The functional skills qualifications criteria and the specific criteria for the individual functional skills in English, mathematics and ICT are available from Ofqual.
Please ensure that you review the assessment approaches of your selected awarding organisation, and make sure that they will be accrediting functional skills in the qualifications that you offer.

Controlled assessment
Controlled assessment is a form of internal assessment in which control levels are set for each stage of the assessment process: task setting, task taking and task marking. These regulations have been drawn up to support the development and implementation of controlled assessment in the Functional Skills specifications for first teaching from September 2010. They will be used by the regulators in the accreditation process.
