Development project materials

The Functional Skills Support Programme funded 27 providers from all sectors and regions to support work in developing and improving functional skills delivery.

Each project was tasked with producing resources that would aid the sector in delivering functional skills from September 2010.

We have received a full set of successfully completed materials from each of the development projects. They are wide ranging and encompass all sectors, from work-based learning and adult and community learning to further education and sixth form colleges, and have been received positively by those reviewing them. The outcomes of the projects were reviewed by a panel of representatives from DCSF, AoC, ALP, BIS, LSIS and HOLEX. The panel listened to presentations about their projects from National Star College and Castle College. All involved thought this was a good way of updating the panel and practitioners on the issues facing the sector, and showcasing the success of the development projects.

The themes and resources produced outputs focussed on much-needed sector resources, such as those concentrating on continuing professional development. They can be used immediately by those preparing for the launch of functional skills in September of this year.

The content will be available for use during May 2010 via this website, and there will be a dedicated area on the site to showcase the outputs.
