Accessibility

The Functional Skills Support Programme is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience - regardless of ability or browsing technology and including those who have visual, hearing, motor and cognitive impairments. This site conforms to the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and meets W3C Web Accessibility Guidelines at Level 2 (AA rating). This includes all materials produced by the programme for this website, but may not apply to other materials available on this site. For more information on the guidelines, please visit the WAI website.

We want to give control to users and let you decide how you view the site. Our website offers accessibility options that are easy to discover, understand and select.

Please note that all external links and downloads will open in a new window (or tab, depending on your browser’s current settings).

Increasing the text size
If you find the text on this site is too small, you can change it easily using your browser's settings.

  • If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to the View menu, select Text Size and then either Larger or Largest.
  • If you use Firefox, go to the View menu, select Text Size and then Increase. Repeat as necessary.

Changing the colours
If you use magnification technology you may want to change the site colours, as white can give an uncomfortable glare. To do this, simply change the preferences in your browser.

  • If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to the Tools menu, select Internet Options, select Colors and make changes to text and background colours in the Colors panel.
Please note: for your changes to take effect, you may also need to select Accessibility under Internet Options and check the box labelled 'Ignore colors specified on webpages'.
  • If you use Firefox, go to the Tools menu, select Options, choose the Content tab and click Colors. You can then make changes to text, background and link colours.
